Overview
Developed by Fly Fish Food as a competition-style caddis larva pattern. The combination of ice dub and UV coating creates a translucent, segmented body that mimics the natural appearance of caddis larvae. The partridge legs and wing case add realism without bulk, maintaining the slim profile essential for euro nymphing. Tie in various colors to match local caddis species.

Fishing Tips
Season
Most effective during spring and summer when caddis larvae are active, typically March through September. Fall can also be productive as larvae prepare for pupation. Works year-round in tailwaters with consistent caddis populations.
Presentation
Use tight-line euro nymphing techniques with a dead drift. The tungsten bead gets the fly down quickly in pocket water and runs. High-stick presentations work best to maintain contact with the fly. Lead the fly slightly in faster currents to keep it in the feeding zone.
When to Use
Best during caddis hatches when trout are feeding on larvae drifting in the current. Effective throughout the day, particularly in the morning and evening. Works well when fish are holding deep in riffles and runs. Excellent searching pattern in freestone streams with active caddis populations.
Water Type
Designed for moving water, particularly productive in riffles, pocket water, and medium-paced runs. Works well in both freestone and tailwater environments. Target deeper seams, current breaks, and the heads and tails of pools where caddis larvae naturally drift.
Rigging Suggestions
Fish on a 9-12 foot euro nymphing leader with 4X-5X fluorocarbon tippet. Use as a point fly in a two-fly rig with a lighter pattern as dropper. The tungsten bead provides enough weight for most situations, but add a small split shot 18-24 inches above in deeper water. Sighter material helps detect subtle takes.
Visibility & Floatation
Sinks quickly with the 3.0mm tungsten bead, reaching depths of 3-5 feet effectively. The ice dub body creates subtle flash and translucency that attracts trout without spooking them. The slim profile cuts through current with minimal resistance. UV coating adds durability and a natural wet sheen.
