Euro NymphsReverse Perdigon
The Reverse Perdigon is an innovative euro nymph variation that places the hot spot at the rear instead of the front, creating a unique trigger point. The Hends body quill creates a realistic segmented appearance while the UV resin coating provides exceptional durability and a fast sink rate. An effective competition pattern that excels in technical presentations.

Overview
Developed by Fly Fish Food, this pattern reverses the traditional perdigon design by positioning the attracting color at the tail rather than the thorax. The dark violet tungsten bead combined with the rear hot spot creates an unusual profile that triggers strikes from selective trout. The UV resin coating not only adds durability but also creates a smooth, glass-like finish that enhances the sink rate. This pattern gained popularity in competitive fly fishing circles for its effectiveness in pressured waters where fish see traditional perdigon patterns frequently.

Fishing Tips
Season
Year Round effectiveness, particularly productive during spring and fall Baetis hatches (March-May, September-November). Also works well in winter when trout are feeding selectively on smaller nymphs. Summer effectiveness continues in high-altitude streams and tailwaters.
Presentation
Use tight-line euro nymphing techniques with a high-stick presentation. Cast upstream and maintain contact with the fly throughout the drift. The heavy tungsten bead gets the fly into the feeding zone quickly. Short, controlled drifts work best in pocket water and runs. Lead the fly slightly in faster currents to maintain bottom contact.
When to Use
Ideal when trout are feeding on mayfly nymphs and midge pupae in clear water conditions. Particularly effective when fish have seen traditional perdigon patterns and become wary. Works well during overcast conditions and when fish are holding in deeper runs. The reversed hot spot can trigger strikes when standard patterns are refused.
Water Type
Designed specifically for moving water environments including freestone rivers, tailwaters, and spring creeks. Most effective in riffles, runs, and pocket water where trout hold near the bottom. Works well in water depths of 2-6 feet. The fast-sinking design excels in faster currents where quick depth is essential.
Rigging Suggestions
Fish on 9-12 foot euro nymphing leader with 5X-6X fluorocarbon tippet. Use as the point fly in a two-fly euro rig with a lighter nymph as the dropper. No indicator needed when using euro nymphing techniques. Position 12-18 inches above a smaller pattern like a Frenchie or jig nymph. The tungsten bead provides sufficient weight in most conditions, but add micro split shot if needed in deep or fast water.
Visibility & Floatation
Sinks extremely fast due to the combination of tungsten bead and UV resin coating. The slim, streamlined profile cuts through current with minimal resistance, allowing for excellent contact with the fly. The dark violet bead provides some visibility to the angler in clear water. The olive body and peacock thorax blend naturally with stream bottoms while the Coq de Leon tail adds subtle movement. UV resin coating creates a durable, glass-like finish that catches light underwater.
