Tying Instruction : 1) Tie on thread, 1/2 a shank length from hook eye. 2) Tie on a single, black dye, grizzly hackle. 3) Tie on crystal flash on top of the grizzly hackle. 4) Tie on (very sparse) 5-10 strands of black bucktail on top and bottom of the hook. 5) Palmer wrap the remainder of the hook to the hook eye with a black dyed grizzly hackle. 6) Whip finish the head. Note : The "Black Beauty "is a single wing with long black grizzly hackle from Hunter`s angling in New Boston NH. a little black bucktail, some flash and a palmered head [like a wooly bugger]. This fly has been deadly at night, supposedly imintating the black eels. The single wing is very effective in lengths of 4-6" Works very well in a dead drift, or let it swing in the current. Most of the hits come at the end of the swing. * keep it sparse |
