LUCKY LISA
Hook : Daiichi 1530 # 2 - 6
Thread : Kevlar
Bead : Strung 8mm or 10mm
Tail : Flashabou Red
Body : Crystal Chenille Red

Fly Tier: Steven Skrubis

Tying Instruction :

1. Invert the hook and "lightly' burn a flame on the shank for 5 to 8 seconds (any more time is unnecessary, as overheating could remove the coating and weaken some hooks).
2. With a small pair of needle nose pliers, hold one of the beads and push it upwards onto the shank of the hook, from the bottom up, approximately in the middle of the hook shank. Make sure you do this immediately after heating the hook, and hold the bead in place for a few seconds to assure bonding. This will make the plastic melt over itself and cover the hook completely where the bead is positioned. No more than 1/3 of the bead should be below the level of the hook shank, as 2/3 of the bead should be on top of the hook if positioned properly.
3. Tie in a small clump of Flashabou or Krystal Flash for the tail, so that the material is slightly bent downwards, towards the bend of the hook.
4. Tie in a strand of Cheni Ile or Estaz, and wrap forward just short of the hook eye. When wrapping around the bead, make sure to push the material up into the bottom of the bead, to fill the gap created where the bead is secured to the hook.
5. Whip f inish with Kevlar thread, cement the head, and allow the f ly to dry and set overnight.
6. Tie one on, cast, and hold on!
