Tying Instruction : Rear Half 1) Tie on thread near hook bend. 2) Tie on short tail of mallard breast feather. 3) Tie on claret floss for rib. 4) Dub a tapered body to the eye of the hook. 5) Rib body with floss and tie off. 6) Whip finish a head. Front Half 1) Place 8lb mono through the eye of the rear half hook and form a loop. 2) Tie the loop to a new hook for the full shank length. A drop of super glue will make sure that the loop doesn't slip. 3) Tie on claret floss for rib. 4) Dub a tapered body 1/2 of the hook shank length. 5) Rib with floss and tie off. 6) Tie on brown turkey quill for wing case. 7) Tie in brown saddle hackle, by the tip, on top of the turkey quill. 8) Dub a bulbous thorax. 9) Pull saddle hackle over thorax and tie off. 10) Pull turkey quill over saddle hackle and tie off. 11) Tie a neat head and whip finish. 12) Cut front half hook off at hook bend. |
