Tying Instruction : 1) Tie on thread at mid shank. 2) Tie on pheasant tail for tail and abdomen. 3) Tie on fine wire for rib. 4) Wrap pheasant tail abdomen and rib with wire. 5) Tie on crystal flash for wing case. 6) Dub hares ear thorax. 7) Pull wing case over thorax and tie a neat head Note : Take a very close look at the fly on this page. It's very well proportioned and very small. I mounted it to the eye of a sewing needle. The red wax that is holding the fly in place is the size of the head of a pin. When you tie flies this small, and this well, a picture of the fly can be deceiving, it can look several sizes larger. When tying flies this small proportion is the thing that matters. Neil is not only an expert tier he also has a good eye for proportion. |
