Tail : Antron Yarn Brown
Rib : Fine Copper Wire
Abdomen : Rabbit Atron Blend Dark Brown
Thorax : Hares Ear Antron Dubbing Olive Brown

Fly Tier: Jude SanGregory

Tying Instruction :

1) Tie on Antron tail.
2) Tie on copper wire.
3) Dub a slightly tapered body of brown dubbing.
4) Wrap wire over dubbing.
5) Tie on Turkey tail fibers.
6) Tie on a strand of Poly Wing material as you would tie on a wing case.
7) Dub a thorax of Olive/brown dubbing.
8) Pull Poly Wing strand forward and tie down to form a loop.
9) Split Turkey tail around loop and pull forward to make wing case.
10) Tie a head and whip finish.

Note :

This fly imitates the emerging sulfur mayfly. Fish it below the surface just like a nymph. It is shown tied with an off-white poly wing loop. Yellow would be preferable
but I don't have any. The fly is shown with and without a wing case. The wing case is mainly to make the fly look good to the human who tied it. In my experience,
fish don't care if the wing case is added.

ABOUT THE FLY TIER
E-mail : jsangreg@rochester.rr.com

I was born and raised in Northern Ohio where my favorite activity was walleye fishing on Lake Erie with my father and brothers. I now live in upstate NY where I enjoy fly fishing for trout and smallmouth bass. I have been tying my own flies since about 1990.
