Tying Instruction : 1) Place a needle (eye first) in your fly tying vise (dull the point so you don't prick your finger while tying the body). 2) Tie in thread near needlepoint. Hold a small clump of Deer hair over the needle leaving the ends as a tail. Now wrap the Deer hair to the needle as if you were tying it to a hook. Dub the thread with brown dubbing. Saturate the Deer hair body and thread with glue, use either Dave's Flexament (thinned down Goop) or Pliobond. Now before the glue dries dub the body over it. Take a pair of pliers and remove the body from the needle. 3) Place a hook in the vise and start the thread at about the mid point. 4) Tie on the body. 5) Tie on a piece of foam for the wing case. 6) Dub an olive thorax. 7) Tie on partridge legs. 8) Pull foam over thorax for the wing case and tie a neat head. |
